The two males of the Olifants pride were seen on Pondoro on the 17th of September. I haven't seen them for quite a while as the pride keeps to a territory further to the east. It turned out to be a very special morning as we later saw them digging and pulling a warthog out of a termite mound.
Lions were seen almost daily and some of the highlights included:
- Lions feeding on buffalo on the Barnard cutline.
- Lions feeding on a bushpig on the East/West cutline.
- Lions on a kudu kill at Ralph's road.
- Lions feeding on a buffalo at Impalabos West.
- Lions feeding on a kudu on the Olifants road.
- Kokwana and 2 young females feeding on a kudu on the East/West cutline.
- Kokwana feeding on a warthog at Xikulu dam.
- We also saw Big Boy and the Mother Lion mating on the 28th and 29th of September.
Elephant, rhino and lions were also regularly seen during walks including a sighting of a rhino bull and 3 young male lions barely 20 meters apart.
We also had some good leopard sightings with the highlight on the 30th of September when we saw how a female leopard caught a guinea fowl right in front of the vehicle.
The Olifants River in front of Pondoro was the setting of the very romantic wedding of Martien and Nienke Mantje on the 10th of September. A hearty congratulations once again from the Pondoro team.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank James and Amanda Newell, Claudia Kukowitsch ( Main Camp ) and Nicky Welling and friends ( Self-catering ) for visiting Pondoro again.
All photographs were taken by Robbie Prehn during September 2008 while on game drive with guests.
