The good rains that started in November continued through December and most of the dams in the Reserve are now full. I haven't seen any of the small streams flow for the past 2 years and to see this amount of water everywhere brings joy and happiness to man and beast alike.

Baby impala and wildebeest are plentiful and although their playful antics are a joy to watch, one should never forget that hungry eyes stalk the bush and could appear anytime at the most unexpected of places.

This happened on the 16th of December when guests saw lions stalking and killing a young wildebeest right next to the vehicle on Impalabos East. On the 10th of December guests also saw 3 crocodiles catching and feeding on a bushbuck while they were having lunch.

The Christmas theme was an African Township Feast and guests were treated to traditional township food mixed with Lize's enthusiasm and imagination to produce a really special dinner.

Ideas for cutlery and decorations were stolen from the townships of South Africa and the mugs that were presented as Christmas gifts were handpainted by all the staff.

I would like to thank Mona Nordin and Lisbet Ekberg who stayed at Pondoro for the 3rd time during December. It is always nice to see you and I hope that you enjoyed Australia and New Zealand.

Thierry Thenon also visited Pondoro again and this time he decided to stay at Bateleur Camp. Hope to see you soon again. A big thank you to everyone that supported Pondoro throughout the year and I wish you all a happy and peaceful 2009! All photographs were taken by Robbie Prehn during December 2008 while on game drive with guests.
