As any guest staying there soon discovers, Bateleur self catering camp is special in many ways, but the camp's game drives are one of its greatest assets. Included in the price of the accommodation are a morning and an evening game drive, plus a bush walk after breakfast. All the game drives are conducted in open vehicles, and the self catering camp has its own vehicle which is used exclusively for the guests in the camp.
An experienced guide leads all game drives. The guide is in radio contact with the self catering camp's sister lodge, Pondoro Game Lodge, plus other lodges in the area, which contributes to excellent game viewing.
Only two vehicles are allowed at a sighting at a time, ensuring a high quality experience. Animals can also be followed off-road if necessary.
Pondoro has extensive traversing over about 8,000 ha within Balule, and the guide has a choice of over 350km of bush roads to travel on in search of the Lowveld's many wonders. Along with sightings of the expected plains game such as zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and impala, the Big Five are regular features on game drives, and guests can experience the spine-tingling sensation of being towered over by an elephant or watching a lion on the prowl.
